I've spent some time looking at the compiler situation on macs.
First of all there are no viable free or shareware compilers as has already been said. Various attempts were made to port gcc to the mac but are now unsupported.
Secondly the problem may be solving itself! The next version of MacOS is unix based.
MacOS X server is already out and MacOS X (ie the client version) is in developer preview due for release second quarter next year
As I get it recompiling a command line program like palview should be a no brainer once we have the unix version.
Even so if somebody has a mac with a C compiler it might still be worth producing a version for those with older machines.
