call for suggestions

Over the weekend, I prototyped a static version of something I've wanted for some time now: a web-based opening book. As yet, nothing fancy, ECO and descriptive opening code and a board set the the final position of the line. Add an index and what you have is a sort of WEB-MCO minus of course the commentary. I used ECOMast.txt as the source and wrote the conversion code in Perl. Fine for a 'proof of concept', but not yet what I've in mind as the 'real deal'. I would like to change the board from static to dynamic and I was wondering if anyone reading this had any suggestions? I could easily convert the source into a kind of pseudo-collection of games, palview it and then parse the result, but if there is a way to go directly to the desired state, I would dearly like to hear of it. I suppose in a nut-shell, what I'm looking for is a kind of start at end directive for the .ini file--is there one?
