chessboard print out

Hi everybody,
I'm not very good at computing, nor in english language.
When I use Palmate, I cannot print out diagramms.
I can only see the pieces on the paper but no trace of the squares. Can you explain that ?
If you've got an answer, please help me because I need to print some articles for my friends.
